MCRP in Middletown
Middletown has long been one of the most populated communities in Monmouth County – as well as in the state of New Jersey. New development is especially prevalent along Route 35 between Cherry Tree Farm Road and Chapel Hill Road, with a substantial number of new residential neighborhoods and commercial complexes built over the last 20 to 30 years. In addition to the residential expansions, Middletown is also home to a number of new shopping centers.
At JCP&L, it’s our job to make sure our customers in Middletown have the power they need when they need it. That is why the Monmouth County Reliability Project is so important – this project will help reduce the length and frequency of service disruptions while delivering the dependable power our customers need.
The proposed MCRP route will start at the substation in Aberdeen, and will follow the New Jersey Transit corridor right-of-way through Hazlet, Holmdel, and Middleton before ending at the substation in Red Bank. The line will enter Middletown at the township border at South Laurel Avenue, follow the railroad line to the Taylor Lane Substation and continue on to Red Bank.
